Asleep Hosts the World's First Sleeptech Symposium in Collaboration with Stanford Sleep Center and the U.S. National Sleep Foundation

    Sleep tech company Asleep aims to create a future sleep consortium following the Sleep, Tech, Life 2023 event held for two days from March 16, as part of Sleep Awareness Week.

    Asleep CEO Lee Dong-heon said, "The sleep consortium will bring together medical professionals from institutions such as the Stanford Sleep Center, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, relevant government ministries such as the Ministry of Science and ICT, and several companies in the sleeptech industry that participated in 'Sleep, Tech, Life 2023'." "Sleep is a third of life. The sleep consortium aims to join forces to solve this complex problem".

    At Sleep, Tech, Life 2023, Dr. Clete A. Kushida, Director of the Sleep Center at Stanford University, Dr. Yoon In-Young, Department of Neuropsychiatry, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Dr. Kim Jeong-Whun, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, and Dr. Jung Ki-Young, Department of Neurology, Seoul national university hospital, presented on sleep from a medical perspective, including the evolution of polysomnography, the future of sleep diagnosis, and changes in Korean sleep behavior.

    Park Yoon-gyu, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT(MSIT), who attended the event, said, "The government will utilize Korea's world-class digital capabilities in the fields of medicine and healthcare to promote the activation of the digital healthcare industry." He further emphasized the importance by saying, "If Korea leads in sleep tech, it will be a very positive development.”

    John Lopos, CEO of the U.S. National Sleep Foundation(NSF), which has been engaged in various activities, including the establishment of Sleep Awareness Week to improve sleep awareness, expressed the importance of the event. He said, "Sleep Awareness Week is now in its 25th year, and it's the first time that government, medicine, and industry have come together to talk about sleep." He added, "NSF's participation in this event holds great significance."

    Furthermore, Sang-eun Lee, Executive Director in charge of CX at LG Electronics, and Young-ho Park, Chief Technology Officer at Amorepacific, highlighted the potential of sleep technology as an important consideration for their future businesses, emphasizing the combination of sleep technology with existing industries such as home appliances and cosmetics.

    After the successful conclusion of the inaugural Sleep, Tech, Life 2023 event this year, Asleep plans to continue its efforts to build a sleep consortium by holding the symposium annually. CEO Lee Dong-heon especially added, "By making the symposium an annual tradition, we hope to discover new startups entering the sleep market, as well as increase the government's cross-sectoral efforts and the medical community's participation.”
